Saving Urban Marriage is an initiative of For Better For Worse For Keeps Ministries, a non-profit ministry founded in 2009 dedicated to healing hearts and restoring marriages in underserved communities.
The roots of the ministry reach back 35 years ago with the marriage of Bob and Cheryl Moeller on June 16, 1979. Bob was raised in an inner-city church in Minneapolis and Cheryl raised in a pastor’s home in Detroit and Flint, Michigan. It was as children they first developed their awareness and compassion for serving under-served communities.
After they married their hearts were soon drawn to encouraging couples in their marriages. In 1993 they published their first book entitled, “For Better For Worse For Keeps” that was nominated for the Gold Medallion Award. That led to producing a one minute daily syndicated radio spot called “The Marriage Minute” that quickly grew to air on 300 stations nationwide.
In 2005 they began a national live call-in television program called, “Marriage – For Better For Worse” on the Total Living Network. Reaching out to primarily ethnic and under-served communities for help and advice on marriage, in 2013 the broadcast was recognized by the National Religious Broadcasters as the “Best Television Teaching Program of the Year.”
For the last two decades Bob and Cheryl have given their best efforts to serving primarily urban, ethnic and first generation immigrant congregations. They passionately believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only solution to the issues that confront couples in their marriage and community. Saving Urban Marriage is their platform for engaging in community relevant evangelism, discipleship and cultural transformation.
The Moeller family now includes six children ages 16 to 33, one son-in-law, three daughter-in-laws, two grandsons and a granddaughter. They make their home in the greater Chicago area.
